The Chart of Accounts, maintained as a living standard.

One annual cycle. One public process. One record of every proposed change — open to practitioners, accountants, bookkeepers, and practice managers who use it every day.

Why the Council Exists

Revisions used to happen without much structure.

The VMG-AAHA Companion Animal Chart of Accounts is the financial classification standard used to benchmark veterinary practices across the industry. Historically, it was revised on an irregular basis, and changes surfaced without a defined route for industry input.

The Council was formed to change that — a predictable annual cycle, a public log of every submission, and a clear way for the people who use the Chart of Accounts to help maintain it.

The Annual Cycle

From submission to implementation

Every submission needs support.

Every submission ends in a clear decision.
